David Depape, the guy who allegedly attacked Nancy Pelosi's husband lied to save an Italian photo research doppelganger.

DC - On Thursday, U.S. Capitol Police announced that they had arrested David Depape, the man who allegedly attacked Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, in the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. Depape, who is from Italy, was charged with assault and battery.

According to a report in the New York Times, Depape lied to police in order to save an Italian photo research doppelganger. Depape reportedly told police that he was in the U.S. Capitol to take pictures for a research project he was working on. He said he did not know who Nancy Pelosi was and that he had never heard of her husband, Paul.

However, investigators were able to determine that Depape was lying and that he was actually in the U.S. Capitol to take part in the insurrection. Depape's true identity was revealed after authorities found his passport in his hotel room.

This story just goes to show that even in the midst of a chaotic and violent event like the attack on the U.S. Capitol, there are still people who are trying to take advantage of the situation. It's truly despicable.
